Shawn and Alicia decided to travel to Banff to elope in the mountains! Travelling from Ontario, they knew they wanted to see some epic mountain views and that's what they did! They realized the best way to see the mountains was from the top. Not wanting to hike, they decided on a helicopter elopement and that is when they found me who helped guide them toward the heli company that best suited what they were looking for; Rockies Heli.

These two wanted an intimate elopement just with the two of them and that's what they had. They started off the afternoon getting ready at the Thompson River resort in Cline River before we headed to Abraham Lake for their first look! This lake offered an epic mountain backdrop for their first time seeing each other all dressed up for their elopement. After spending a little bit of time soaking it all in we headed to the heliport which was only 3 minutes away.

Once we arrived at Rockies Heli we were met with the greatest staff who took one look at what we were wearing (this was the first day of summer) and were told that it was in fact not summer where we were going but winter! We were all a little shocked since it was the first day of summer but that's how it is here in Banff! No worries though as the rockiesheli was prepared with a whole cabin full of winter gear from head to toe. After we got all bundled up we were ready to take off.

Shawn and Alicia wanted to land somewhere where they felt like they were at the highest point looking over the mountain peaks. Our pilot knew the exact spot and took us to a spot where we could see just that. Landing on top of a mountain top for the first time and looking down at a valley of mountains is truly an amazing experience as I saw on the bride's face the moment she stepped out of the plane. It took her breath away and ours as well.

At the top of the mountain looking off over the rest of Banff National Park they had an intimate ceremony in complete isolation of the world with me (the photographer) the videographer and the pilot as their witnesses. Due to the fact it was winter we had to take an intermission halfway through the ceremony so our bride and groom could warm up in the helicopter. Because you really can do whatever you want when you elope! After the I do's we spent the rest of our time taking photos and hanging out on top of the mountain taking in the beautiful views.

After we got back to the heliport, Rockies Heli had a few snacks waiting for our newlyweds and then we watched the sunset over the mountains right at the heliport. Rockies Heli also has a fire pit where you can roast some marshmallows after you land if that's something you'd like to do!

And that was Shawn and Alicia's Banff helicopter elopement with Rockies Heli! Scroll down to see a glimpse into their day!
